so a bug in some of the server-side coding appears to be causing some issues and upsetting some World of Warcraft players. i wouldn’t call it a real “exploit” or “hack”, but either way, it’s caused a bit of rife in several of the realms. apparently it goes something like:
1. lvl 70 user starts an arena team
2. Invites another user to the arena Team
3. original user LOGS OUT
4. recipient user accepts the arena team invite AFTER first user has logged out
5. server goes down for 2-3 minutes
6. all the RPG nerds everywhere get seriously angry. shake their tiny, well-defined fists in anger.
it’s just a bug IMHO, but a funny one nevertheless. all of the threads out there are like, “what kind of asshole crashes a WOW server?” and “this is stupid. stop it. i will report you. i hope you get banned”.
the REALLY funny part? you have to be a registered, paying user of this game to actually bring down one of their boxes. why would you bring down the host of the game you are paying to play? it usually boils down to this. someone on teamspeak or ventrillo mentions it in a channel and then everyone and their dog immediately goes to try it. it’s the nature of the beast. each person that tries it brings down the host they are on. then they go bitch in the threads about “hackers” and “stupid kids”. this is the part that makes me sad. if they are really adults who are complaining about a GAME that has a bug and all of their peers are just “seeing what will happen”.
i’ve got a easy fix for all of them.
stop playing for a day. just one day. see what happens. blizzard will fix it, you can go back to your weird-ass existence of not going outside, and playing a game all the time and talking incessantly about said videogame when your real life inhibits you from actually being on the game. the game will be there tomorrow. all fixed up and nice.
